Education Sub-dept: Renovation Budget for SDN Kebayoran Lama 09 Designed Since 2025

The Jakarta Education Sub-department for Region I stated that the renovation budget for SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi in Kebayoran Lama was designed in 2025. ‘In terms of the budget, it has actually been included in the planning. It is already in the 2025 planning document (Detail Engineering Design/DED),’ said Santoso, Head of the Education Sub-department for Region I South Jakarta, to reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday. Santoso expressed hope that the budget could be realised soon, but noted that a gradual mechanism must be followed. Furthermore, there are plans to merge SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi with SDN Kebayoran Lama 11 Pagi. ‘Actually, this school, KLS 09 and KLS 11, is going to be merged into one. Then the construction will be at KLS 09, with KLS 11 used for access. That is the plan,’ he said. He emphasised that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is seeking to accelerate the handling process. ‘In the near future, we will clear the building debris,’ he said. Based on observations at the location, yellow warning lines have been installed around the collapsed building to keep residents at a safe distance. Currently, 274 students from grades 1 to 6 are still attending school, a decrease from the previous 300 as many have transferred. The SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi building collapsed during the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election on 27 November 2024. Four classrooms and one school health unit room were affected. Heavy rain fell that afternoon, causing the building to slowly collapse. No casualties were reported, but parents remain anxious that further collapse could endanger people. Since the incident, parents have continuously sought clarity from the school, but no certainty has been provided to date. They hope the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will help rebuild the school to be better and more comfortable for students, especially as Quran recitation activities have been postponed due to the incident.
