Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Jakarta Provincial Information Commission (KI), Harry Ara Hutabarat, has asserted that education regarding Public Information Disclosure (KIP) must be instilled in students from an early age as an effort to build a generation that is transparent, honest, and possesses integrity.

“KIP must be instilled in students from an early age. Children need to understand that the openness of information is a public right that must be exercised responsibly,” Harry stated during a visit to SDN 01 Pancoran on Monday.

He also commended SDN 01 Pancoran for its 2025 E-Monev results, achieving the “Towards Informative” predicate with a score of 82.5.

“The dedication of SDN 01 Pancoran is not a coincidence, but stems from a strong commitment, allowing it to successfully reach the ‘towards informative’ category,” Harry remarked.

He further noted that SDN 01 Pancoran is worthy of becoming a model school for the implementation of public information disclosure at the primary school level. Introducing KIP early is viewed as a component of character education and a preventive step against future corrupt practices.

“This is an excellent initial step. Introducing the understanding of public information disclosure at the primary school level is a vital part of anti-corruption efforts, preparing the potential leaders of the future,” Harry explained.

During the visit, he also observed the implementation of the Grade 6 Final Semester Summative Assessment (ASAS) at SDN 01 Pancoran, which he described as highly orderly. The monitoring results will serve as the basis for recommendations to improve public information services for each public body.

Harry clarified that the monitoring and evaluation activities are not intended as audits, but rather as a form of education and assistance to ensure public bodies can provide maximum information services to the community.

“In principle, the ‘towards informative’ category is just one step away from becoming ‘informative’. Therefore, we encourage schools to continue improving the quality of their public information services,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of SDN 01 Pancoran, Elanda Rosyina, expressed gratitude for the appreciation and visit from the Jakarta Information Commission. She noted that the evaluation results serve as motivation to continue developing the school’s services.

“We feel honoured by this direct visit. It serves as both an evaluation and motivation for us to become even better,” Elanda stated.

She also ensured that the school would follow up on the various recommendations provided by the Jakarta Information Commission as part of developing school governance that is more open, transparent, and informative.
