Education must evolve to face global challenges, says Brunei minister

In an era marked by rapid technological shifts, global uncertainty, and the urgent need for sustainable practices, education systems must continually evolve, Brunei’s education minister said on Tuesday. Speaking at an international symposium on education development held near the Bruneian capital, Minister of Education Hajah Romaizah Haji Mohd Salleh said that education systems need to become more resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking in order to face various new challenges and opportunities. The minister noted that these challenges, whether the digital divide or the need for pedagogical reform, are too large to be overcome by a single institution or country alone. She emphasised the importance of cooperation and knowledge exchange among stakeholders, stating that meaningful progress can only be achieved through collective effort. The symposium featured a series of keynote addresses and explored issues surrounding curriculum transformation, future-ready universities, innovation, and the developing landscape of teacher education.
