The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has received an award for the Rumah Pendidikan super app, which won first place in the e-Government category at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026, organised by the UN through the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Rumah Pendidikan, which was selected after outperforming 1,596 digital innovations from 122 countries, serves as proof that Indonesia’s digital education transformation can address the challenge of equitable access to learning for millions of children across the nation.

‘We dedicate this award to the millions of students, teachers, education staff, parents, and all education stakeholders in Indonesia who uphold the spirit of learning every day across the country,’ said Secretary General of Kemendikdasmen Suharti in a written statement on Thursday evening.

According to her, Indonesia’s geographical conditions have actually spurred the creation of innovations capable of reaching all children in the nation. ‘As an archipelagic country with more than 17,000 islands, we believe that a child’s place of birth or residence should not determine the quality of education they receive. It is upon this belief that Rumah Pendidikan was built as a digital learning ecosystem that connects various parties,’ she said.

Suharti stressed that technology is one of the solutions to reduce disparities in educational services. However, technology is not intended to replace the role of teachers, but rather to strengthen teachers as the centre of learning. Through technology, every Indonesian child has an equal opportunity to access quality learning and teaching resources. At the same time, she continued, technology also opens up space for universal collaboration and participation in realising quality education for all.

She also conveyed that the award is the result of President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to expand access to education through technology, the leadership of Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti, and the dedication of all education stakeholders, particularly the ranks of Kemendikdasmen and the Rumah Pendidikan team. ‘This international recognition further strengthens our commitment to continue providing quality education that is accessible to every Indonesian child,’ she said.

Currently, Rumah Pendidikan has integrated 66 education services, is utilised by more than 6.9 million users, provides 4,843 free learning resources, and has helped over 104,000 teachers in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged regions improve the quality of learning.
