Education Ministry to Revitalise 2,298 Schools in Aceh Worth IDR 2.32 Trillion

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that in 2026, Aceh Province will receive a school revitalisation programme covering 2,298 units, valued at IDR 2.32 trillion. “This year’s school revitalisation programme in Aceh is focused on schools affected by disasters in Aceh so they have more decent, safe, and comfortable places to learn,” said Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti during the inauguration of the revitalisation of educational units across Banda Aceh City at SLB YPPC Banda Aceh on Tuesday. The Minister noted that in 2025, his ministry revitalised 730 schools across various education levels, from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to Special Schools (SLB), with a total budget of IDR 713.5 billion in Aceh Province. In 2026, the revitalisation programme will be expanded to 2,298 school units, from PAUD to SLB levels, spread across areas particularly affected by flash floods and landslides. “The President is giving serious attention to Aceh, especially for educational units in disaster areas, to accelerate their revitalisation so that by the new 2026 academic year, students can use new school facilities that are safer, more comfortable, beautiful, and green,” said Minister Abdul Mu’ti. He expressed confidence that with the accelerated construction, children in disaster-affected schools can attend school in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives. Head of the Aceh Education Agency (Disdik) Murthalamuddin said the province is greatly assisted by the central government’s school revitalisation programme in disaster-affected areas. According to him, the Minister’s visit is also part of accelerating the revitalisation programme and bringing various education sector development programmes closer to Tanah Rencong, enabling it to achieve a better national standing. “We realise that Aceh’s current position is in an unsatisfactory rank, but we are committed, with support from the Minister, to improving this position to within the top 15,” he said. For the Banda Aceh school revitalisation in 2025 inaugurated by the Minister, 28 schools were completed with a budget of IDR 35.3 billion. In 2026, 13 units from PAUD to SLB levels will be revitalised with a total budget of IDR 11.5 billion.
