Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is ready to apply the deep learning approach across all school subjects, adapting it to the characteristics of each field of study.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti said the application of deep learning would not become a new subject, but rather a learning approach designed to make the learning process more meaningful, in-depth, and actively engaging students.

“All subjects will use the deep learning approach in accordance with the characteristics of each subject. Its implementation will not always be the same. That is why we are holding training for teachers of all subjects,” said Minister Mu’ti in Jakarta on Friday.

According to Mu’ti, each subject has different characteristics, so the application of deep learning cannot be standardised.

Therefore, he said this year’s independent training on deep learning, coding and artificial intelligence (PMKKA) is being conducted on a subject basis, so that teachers can directly discuss the implementation of deep learning according to their field of study.

“So it is subject-based. Previously, everyone gathered to receive the substance of deep learning; now it goes straight to implementation in their respective subjects. So Mathematics teachers meet with Mathematics teachers, Indonesian language teachers meet with Indonesian language teachers,” said Mu’ti.

He added that the application of deep learning cannot be separated from the use of technology, including coding and artificial intelligence (AI).

AI, he continued, can stand as a separate subject at school while also serving as a tool to support the implementation of deep learning across various subjects.

“AI can be a subject in its own right, but it can also simultaneously support deep learning. That is why AI and coding are actually one package that can all be used to make deep learning a success,” said Mu’ti.

With the deep learning approach and the use of coding and AI, he encouraged teachers to make proportionate use of digital technology to strengthen the learning process according to the needs of each subject.
