The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is targeting the training of 361,000 teachers to strengthen competencies in deep learning, coding, and artificial intelligence (AI) as part of efforts to accelerate digital transformation in every educational unit.

“More than 361,000 teachers and education personnel have the potential to participate in deep learning, coding, and AI training in 2026,” said Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel at Kemendikdasmen, Nunuk Suryani, in Jakarta on Friday.

Nunuk added that this year’s training is entering a broader implementation phase as the ministry begins to strengthen the application of subject-based deep learning in classrooms.

“This training is a momentum of commitment to ensure that educational transformation through deep learning, coding, and AI truly reaches the classroom by enhancing the competence of educators and education personnel,” Nunuk said.

She explained that the training is no longer solely oriented towards conceptual mastery, as the ministry wants to ensure the philosophy of deep learning—which is mindful, meaningful, and joyful—is genuinely applied in the teaching and learning process.

Consequently, she said the role of teacher working groups such as the Teachers’ Working Group (KKG), Subject Teachers’ Forum (MGMP), Principals’ Working Forum (MKKS), and School Supervisors’ Working Forum (MKPS) will be optimised as centres of learning innovation in the regions.

“The philosophy of mindful, meaningful, and joyful deep learning is expected to truly reach the classrooms, not just remain a concept on paper,” she said.

For context, in 2025, deep learning training reached 88 per cent of the target of 60,000 educational units, involving 133,391 teachers and 52,808 school principals. Meanwhile, coding and AI training in 2025 reached 53,000 educational units, or 97 per cent of the 55,000 target.
