Education Ministry Strengthens Subject-Based PMKKA Training for Teachers

“We want to ensure that the philosophy of Deep Learning that is Mindful, Meaningful and Joyful truly lands in our classrooms, and does not remain a concept on paper.”

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is strengthening the implementation of self-paced training in Deep Learning, Coding and Artificial Intelligence (PMKKA) for teachers and education personnel through the adoption of a subject-based Teacher Experimental Training (TET) method.

Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel at Kemendikdasmen, Nunuk Suryani, said the strengthening marks the next stage of the programme’s initial period, which focused on preparation and implementation piloting.

“If in the early stage we focused on preparation and piloting, this year our main focus is strengthening the implementation of PMKKA based on school subjects,” Nunuk said at the event titled “Launch of Self-Paced Training in Deep Learning, Coding and Artificial Intelligence” in Jakarta on Thursday.

“Now implementation goes straight into each subject, so mathematics teachers meet with mathematics teachers, Indonesian language teachers meet with Indonesian language teachers. So it is training, then implementation, then reflection at the next meeting,” said Nunuk.

She further said the implementation is being strengthened so that the approach of Deep Learning that is Mindful, Meaningful and Joyful is genuinely applied in classroom teaching practice.

For that reason, she said the regular training in the three competencies will involve working group forums such as Teacher Working Groups (KKG) and Subject Teacher Deliberation Forums (MGMP), given that training facilitators come from National Facilitators and Subject-Based Working Group Facilitators.

This regular training, she continued, will make use of Teacher Learning Days as the primary vehicle for improving educators’ competencies.

Meanwhile, to broaden access and opportunity, the ministry is also ready to provide tiered training through the Self-Paced Training feature on Ruang GTK (RGTK), as well as blended training programmes via the RGTK Learning Management System (LMS).
