Education Ministry Strengthens Deep Learning Implementation with AI Coding

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is strengthening the implementation of the deep learning approach by incorporating coding and artificial intelligence (AI), providing memorable, meaningful and enjoyable teaching and learning activities for both teachers and pupils.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti said AI and coding have become an inseparable part of supporting the implementation of deep learning, whether as standalone subjects or as tools supporting the learning process.

“AI can be a standalone subject, but it can also serve to support deep learning. AI and coding really come as one package, all of which can be used to make deep learning a success, including the use of interactive flat panels,” Mu’ti said at an event titled “Launch of Independent Training on Deep Learning, Coding and Artificial Intelligence” in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Mu’ti, various learning facilities — whether digital technology or other learning media developed independently by teachers — should rightly support teaching and learning activities in the classroom and increase pupils’ active engagement.

“Deep learning will ultimately be applied to all subjects. All subjects will use the deep learning approach adapted to their respective characteristics. That is why this training is being held for teachers of all subjects,” Mu’ti said.

He added that the deep learning approach aims not only to enable pupils to answer questions, but also to find meaning in the material they study and to develop it beyond the written curriculum.

“In this way, the experience gained by pupils becomes an integral part of the learning process. That is why it is important to create an environment where there is consistency between the values taught at school and the reality they see in everyday life,” he said.
