Education Ministry Strengthens Competency and Global Partnerships for Training Centres
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to strengthen the competence quality and global networks of course and training institutions (LKP) to prepare human resources capable of competing professionally in the global labour market.
The Director General of Secondary and Special Education at Kemendikdasmen, Tatang Muttaqin, stated in Jakarta on Friday that course and training education possesses characteristics that can respond rapidly to the needs of the working world through flexible, competency-based training programmes designed in accordance with industrial developments.
“Course and training education plays a very strategic role in preparing a workforce ready to enter the labour market, as well as improving the competence of the existing workforce,” said Tatang.
He noted that job opportunities are no longer limited to the domestic labour market but are also widely available in various countries requiring competent workers. According to him, these opportunities must be optimally utilised by graduates of Indonesian LKPs. To achieve this, the strengthening of LKP quality must be carried out in a structured manner.
This effort is being undertaken through the alignment of curricula with industrial needs, increasing practical experience for students, strengthening instructor competence, and expanding partnerships with the business world, industry, and international partners. “As a result, the graduates produced will not only meet national competency standards but will also be able to meet the expectations of the international working world,” he explained.
Tatang added that skill sectors such as spa therapists and caregivers are among the strengths of LKPs that have high demand in various countries. He assessed that both fields require workers who are not only technically competent but also possess a strong work ethic, integrity, communication skills, and care for service recipients.
At the same time, the Director of Courses and Training at Kemendikdasmen, Yaya Sutarya, stated that his department remains committed to driving the continuous improvement of LKP quality. This step is realised through the development of industry-based curricula, the strengthening of competency certification, increasing the capacity of educators and educational staff, and the expansion of partnerships with the business world, industry, and international partners.
“We hope to build a shared learning ecosystem regarding international job opportunities, global industrial competency needs, employment placement challenges, and strategies to improve the quality of course education graduates,” said Yaya.
According to Yaya, various webinar forums under the ‘LKP Mendunia’ (Global LKP) series organised by his department are expected to strengthen synergy between regulators, course education practitioners, and alumni in supporting the more structured and sustainable development of LKP graduate employability.
Through this programme, Kemendikdasmen hopes that more Indonesian LKP graduates will be able to pursue careers at an international level, serving as representatives of competent, professional, and globally competitive Indonesian human resources. He also urged various LKPs in Indonesia to continue transforming into institutions that are increasingly adaptive and international in standard through the strengthening of global industry-based curricula, improving the quality of practical facilities, enhancing foreign language learning, developing a professional work culture, and expanding international cooperation networks.
