Education Ministry Separates Budget Allocation for Learning Studio Construction

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has stated that it has separated the budget allocation for the construction of learning studios, a proposal from President Prabowo Subianto, from the budget allocation for other educational programmes. Ministry Secretary General Suharti affirmed that the budget for the learning studios, intended to support the implementation of distance learning programmes (PJJ), has been provided separately, thus not disrupting the budget allocation for other programmes, including schoolership distribution. “The budget for the learning studio construction is provided separately, it has been allocated separately, and does not disrupt the budget allocation for ongoing programmes,” Suharti said following the Press Conference on the 2027 Fiscal Year State Budget Plan and Financial Note in Central Jakarta on Friday. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the centralised studio would be built in Jakarta. “In the past, we had an educational TV studio, we will use that studio again,” Mu’ti said after the Government’s Introductory Statement on the 2027 State Budget Bill and its Financial Note by President Prabowo Subianto at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta. He mentioned that preparations involve renovating the studio to meet the needs of distance learning as instructed by President Prabowo. For the first phase of educational broadcasting, the ministry will initially utilise TV facilities in Jakarta before expanding to the regions through respective implementing task units. Regarding content providers for the educational broadcast programmes, Abdul Mu’ti confirmed that the best teachers in their scientific fields would be optimised. He assured that the optimisation of distance learning through educational broadcasting would commence this year. President Prabowo, in his State Address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the Regional Representatives Council and the House of Representatives, announced plans to create centralised studios equipped with the best teachers to conduct distance learning broadcasts. Thousands of schools, the President said, would later be able to access the lessons broadcast through these studios. The President added that the learning studios would broadcast any subject, including foreign languages, with instruction beginning from the primary school level.
