JAKARTA — The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has confirmed that it is preparing participant data, assessment systems and supervision ahead of the Academic Competency Test (TKA) for senior secondary schools, Islamic senior secondary schools, vocational schools and equivalent institutions, which is due to begin on 26 October 2026. Preparations take account of the circumstances of each educational institution to ensure every participant has a safe and fair opportunity to take the test.

Prof Toni Toharudin, head of the ministry’s Agency for Primary and Secondary Education Policy, said 3,864,195 participants had registered out of a potential total of 4,213,114, or 91.72 per cent. Registration rates stood at 95.68 per cent for senior secondary schools, 95.64 per cent for Islamic senior secondary schools and 93.10 per cent for vocational schools.

“The large number of registrants makes it our responsibility to provide an assessment service that is orderly, fair and trustworthy,” Toni said at a media briefing on preparations for the 2026 test for senior secondary, Islamic senior secondary and vocational schools, and equivalent institutions, in Jakarta on Friday, 23 October 2026.
