Education Ministry ready to revive educational TV studio for distance learning

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has stated that his ministry is ready to revive the educational television studio to optimise distance learning through centralised broadcasts.

“For the centralised studio, we will build it in Jakarta. In the past, we had an educational TV studio, and we will use that studio again,” said Abdul Mu’ti after the delivery of the Government’s Introductory Statement on the Draft Law on the 2027 State Budget and its Financial Note by President Prabowo Subianto at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday.

He said the preparations involve renovating the studio to suit the needs of distance learning, as instructed by President Prabowo.

For the first phase of educational broadcasting, the ministry will initially make use of TV facilities in Jakarta before expanding to the regions through their respective technical implementation units.

Regarding the content providers for the educational broadcast programmes, Abdul Mu’ti confirmed that the ministry will make the most of the best teachers in their respective fields.

“If certain expertise is required, we could, for example, request professional teachers from a particular country to collaborate with us,” said Abdul Mu’ti.

He also confirmed that the optimisation of distance learning through educational broadcasts will begin this year.

“The teacher studio will commence this year,” the minister said.

President Prabowo, in his State Address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the Regional Representative Council and the House of Representatives, said the government will build centralised studios equipped with the best teachers to conduct distance learning broadcasts.

Thousands of schools, the President said, will be able to access lessons broadcast through these studios.

The President added that the learning studios will broadcast any subject, including foreign languages, which will be taught from primary school level.

President Prabowo also stressed that the government continually strives to provide children with access to the best educational services, so that they will have greater capabilities to compete for jobs in the future.
