Education Ministry Provides AI and Coding Training to Help Teachers Transform Classrooms
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is providing independent training in deep learning, coding, and artificial intelligence (PMKKA) for teachers and education personnel to bring about change in the classroom.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the training aims to improve teacher competence as active facilitators who guide students through the learning process using the 3P approach: presage, process, and product.
“Teachers become facilitators who remain involved in the learning process. Students can share their experiences, discuss with one another, and build engagement in the learning process,” said Minister Mu’ti in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday.
He added that the Deep Learning approach will be applied across all subjects according to their respective characteristics.
One teacher who has benefited from the training is Tri Oktinawati, a teacher at TKIT Insan Madani. She explained that the PMKKA training helped her understand that learning is not just about making children active, but also about providing meaningful learning experiences.
Tri explained that the material developed for kindergarten students focuses on introducing computational thinking, such as decomposition, pattern recognition, and abstraction. The main focus, she said, is to build computational thinking skills from an early age. This approach also helps reduce children’s screen time because the learning process does not rely on computers or gadgets.
Similar changes were felt by Muhammad Jiyad Prawira, a teacher at SDN Batu Ampar 01 in East Jakarta. According to him, implementing the Deep Learning approach has made the learning atmosphere more vibrant because lesson materials are linked to the environment and culture close to the students’ daily lives.
“Now the children do not just receive the material, but they understand its connection to everyday life. I link local culture with mathematics and other subjects so they become more active, enthusiastic, and find the lessons easier to understand,” said Jiyad.
