Education Ministry prioritises school revitalisation in underdeveloped regions

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to prioritise the implementation of a school revitalisation programme in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions, as an effort to accelerate the equitable distribution of education quality across Indonesia. “In accordance with the President’s directive, we are prioritising the revitalisation of schools in 3T regions and schools that have suffered severe physical damage,” said Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti during the inauguration of the revitalisation results at SMP Taruna Sains Muhammadiyah Koba in Koba on Thursday. According to him, the government is also gradually improving the quality of educational facilities and infrastructure, teacher competency, and education personnel so that quality education services can be felt evenly in all regions. “We are all committed to providing good education services by preparing facilities that support learning, including this revitalisation for SMP Taruna Sains Muhammadiyah Koba,” he said. He stated that improving the quality of education in 3T regions is not only carried out through the improvement of school infrastructure, but also by strengthening the competence of educators so that the learning process takes place more optimally. According to Abdul Mu’ti, the revitalisation of schools in 3T regions is a manifestation of the government’s seriousness in paying more attention to education services for children in geographically hard-to-reach areas. “This is part of our joint effort to educate the nation’s children,” he said. Abdul Mu’ti also appreciated the support of local governments for the implementation of the school revitalisation programme in various regions. He hopes that the synergy between the central government, local governments, and all stakeholders can give birth to excellent and quality schools as part of the effort to prepare the Golden Generation of 2045. “Hopefully our joint efforts can give birth to excellent and quality schools to create a great generation in 2045,” he said.
