Education Ministry Prepares Grand Design for National Teacher Fulfilment

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is preparing an integrated grand design for national teacher fulfilment. “This policy covers teacher candidate education, Teacher Professional Education (PPG), certification, competency development, and national teacher demand planning,” said Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Fajar Riza Ul Haq, in Bandarlampung on Saturday. He stated the move is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to build more integrated and sustainable teacher governance. According to him, the policy is part of implementing the President’s Asta Cita vision, which places human resource development as a top national priority. “Amid projections of increasing teacher demand in the coming years, the government believes teacher education reform cannot simply be about increasing the number of graduates,” he said. Fajar emphasised that the aspiration to achieve Indonesia Emas 2045 must begin with improving teacher quality. “If we want to realise Golden Indonesia 2045, the starting point is the teacher. No educational transformation can succeed without professional, competent, and continuously developing teachers,” he stated. He noted that Indonesia actually has great potential to meet teacher needs, with a recorded surplus of around 1.6 million education bachelor’s graduates over the past decade. “This potential needs to be optimised through the implementation of Teacher Professional Education for prospective teachers, designed based on the real needs of educational units, so that teacher distribution can be more targeted,” he said.
