Education Ministry Partners with Universities to Oversee School Revitalisation

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is partnering with universities in every province to serve as supervisory and construction consultants for school buildings under the Education Revitalisation programme. “In every province and district/city, there are universities with civil engineering faculties; they are the ones who will provide assistance,” said Khamim, Principal Expert Widyaprada at Kemendikdasmen, in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday. He made the statement during a visit to SDI Naimata, a state primary school in Kupang City, as part of a journalistic visit for the Education Revitalisation programme. He explained that consultants from university civil engineering faculties would provide daily assistance and ensure that everything from planning to construction runs smoothly and according to design. “The building that media colleagues are seeing now, with 18 newly constructed classrooms, is truly outstanding and very neat,” he said. The budget disbursement process for the project, valued at Rp3.1 billion, involves a signed agreement once all documents are complete. The funds are transferred to the account of the school’s development committee, meaning the revitalisation programme is implemented through a self-managed mechanism by the committee. “This makes it more optimal and efficient, and you can see the results for yourselves,” he added. He stated that the Education Revitalisation programme, one of President Prabowo’s flagship initiatives, will continue. In 2026, the programme will be expanded to several more regions and has already been approved by the House of Representatives (DPR RI). He expressed hope that education management can be completed thoroughly so that the quality of education can also improve further.
