The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has outlined the assessment criteria and weighting for the Student Competition (LKS) Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Competition (EKKA), which forms part of the 2026 National Science Olympiad (OSN).

Muhammad Muchlas Rowi, Special Staff to the Minister for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence, stated that the ministry is striving to prepare a young generation capable of creating ethical, responsible, and beneficial artificial intelligence. “We want the competition criteria to also emphasise AI responsibility, meaning AI must be safe, transparent, fair, and beneficial to humans,” Muchlas said during a webinar titled ‘Socialisation of the 2026 Secondary Education AI Exhibition Competition’ in Central Jakarta on Monday.

He further expressed hope that the event would produce problem solvers who utilise artificial intelligence through the LKS EKKA. The AI exhibition is conducted in the form of a case study-based competition, where each team will design, build, and present an AI-based application to solve real-world problems according to a challenge case set by the committee.

On the same occasion, Darianti, VP of Human Capital at Merkle Innovation, explained several criteria used to assess and select participants’ work. These include problem understanding and relevance to the challenge case, weighted at 20 percent; creativity and innovation of the solution, also weighted at 20 percent; and effective and impactful use of AI, weighted at 20 percent. Other criteria are AI responsibility, covering risk, mitigation, and the human role, weighted at 15 percent; application/prototype functionality, weighted at 15 percent; and clarity of presentation, including pitch video and documentation, weighted at 10 percent.

“We support the effort to provide a space for the younger generation to demonstrate creativity and innovation in utilising artificial intelligence responsibly and producing solutions that have an impact on society,” she said. She added that registration for the 2026 EKKA LKS opens from 15 to 22 June via the registration portal at https://daftarbpti.kemendikdasmen.go.id. Subsequently, participants must submit their work from 22 June to 3 July, uploaded through the page https://forms.office.com/r/6phQnAceYA. At this stage, participants are required to send a solution proposal of up to four pages, a pitch video and demo lasting two to five minutes, and a functional application/prototype.
