Education Ministry Opens Teacher Professional Programme for 30 Fields of Study
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has opened the 2026 Teacher Professional Education (PPG) selection for aspiring teachers, covering 18 general study fields and 12 vocational study fields.
Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel at Kemendikdasmen, Nunuk Suryani, stated in Central Jakarta on Thursday that the 12 vocational fields include Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Indonesian Language, English Language, Mathematics and Science, Physical Education, Special Needs Education, Automotive Engineering, Visual Communication Design, Culinary, Hospitality, Software and Game Development, and Computer Network and Telecommunications Engineering.
She further explained that the opening of the PPG for these 30 fields is based on projected teacher demand for 2027-2028 across Indonesia. By opening study fields according to real needs on the ground, the ministry hopes that PPG graduates will be able to fill teacher shortages in various regions and education levels, whether in state schools, private schools, or schools under other ministries.
Nunuk explained that the PPG coursework for aspiring teachers is conducted over two semesters at designated Teacher Training Institutions (LPTK). The tuition fee for the programme is set at Rp8.5 million per semester, or Rp17 million for two semesters.
“All education costs will be provided in the form of a scholarship (government assistance) to participants who pass the selection and are designated as PPG candidates,” Nunuk said. She added that participants are only required to pay a registration fee of Rp200,000 to undergo the administrative selection and substantive test.
Through the opening of the 2026 PPG programme, the ministry is inviting university graduates who feel a calling to become professional teachers to seize this opportunity. Prospective participants are urged to prepare all required documents to ensure a smooth selection process.
The selection stages and schedule are as follows: registration from 27 June to 25 July, announcement of administrative selection results from 26 to 28 July, substantive tests from 3 to 7 August, announcement of substantive test results on 26 August, interview tests from 31 August to 16 September, and announcement of final selection results on 21 September 2026.
