Education Ministry Opens 2026 Teacher Professional Programme Selection for 30 Subjects
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has officially opened the Teacher Professional Programme (PPG) selection for prospective teachers in 2026. The programme covers 30 fields of study, comprising 18 general subjects and 12 vocational subjects.
Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel (Dirjen GTK) at Kemendikdasmen, Nunuk Suryani, explained that the selection aims to produce higher education graduates who hold teaching certificates and are ready to serve in all corners of Indonesia.
"Through the PPG for prospective teachers, higher education graduates will have the opportunity to obtain a teaching certificate and be ready to teach in various regions throughout Indonesia," Nunuk said in Central Jakarta on Thursday (2/7).
Nunuk elaborated that the determination of the 30 fields of study was based on projected teacher demand for 2027-2028. By aligning the subjects with real needs in the field, the government hopes that PPG graduates can fill teacher shortages at various levels of education, whether in state schools, private schools, or schools under other ministries.
The PPG coursework for prospective teachers will be conducted over two semesters at designated Teacher Training Institutions (LPTK). Regarding costs, Nunuk stated that the total tuition fee is Rp17 million for two semesters (Rp8.5 million per semester).
However, participants who pass the selection and are designated as PPG participants need not worry about these costs. "The entire tuition fee will be provided in the form of a scholarship (government assistance)," Nunuk stressed.
Prospective participants are only required to pay a selection registration fee of Rp200,000 to take part in the administrative selection and substantive test stages.
Nunuk urged higher education graduates who feel a calling to become professional teachers to seize this opportunity immediately by preparing the required documents as thoroughly as possible.
