Education Ministry Mandates Schools to Brief Parents on Orientation Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has mandated that educational units brief the parents of new students on the entire series of activities for the Friendly School Environment Introduction (MPLS Ramah) programme. Secretary of the Directorate General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education (Sesditjen PAUD Dikdas Dikmen) Eko Susanto stated that this briefing must be conducted before the first day of the MPLS Ramah implementation. “Schools are expected to invite or brief parents/guardians at least five working days before the activity begins,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday. He explained that this briefing process can be carried out through an official letter issued by the school, other effective communication media, or face-to-face meetings. He stressed that the briefing activity must be conducted no later than five days before MPLS. “So, a week before MPLS, it can be briefed, or before those five days. The hope is that parents and students can prepare for MPLS better,” he said. Consequently, he noted, the briefing can be conducted during the new student admission (SPMB) re-registration process, simultaneously meeting face-to-face with the parents or guardians of new students who have been officially accepted into the school. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Regulation (Permendikdasmen) Number 12 of 2026 concerning MPLS explains that the MPLS programme briefing must at least contain the objectives and principles of MPLS, materials, schedule, and prohibitions of MPLS, the roles and responsibilities of the MPLS committee, the roles and responsibilities of parents/guardians, the reporting or complaint mechanism, and new student data.
