Education Ministry Investigates Alleged Misuse of Student Data in Dapodik System
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is currently verifying and investigating allegations that children’s data was registered into the Basic Education Data (Dapodik) system at certain educational units without the knowledge of their parents.
Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Non-Formal and Informal Education (PAUD Dikdas PNFI) at Kemendikdasmen, Gogot Suharwoto, stated that the ministry is handling the information seriously by prioritising the principles of prudence and objectivity.
“We are currently conducting a thorough verification and investigation of the circulating information. This process is important to ascertain the facts, chronology, and parties involved, so that any steps taken are based on objective findings,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday. “If any misuse of access or violation of Dapodik governance is found, Kemendikdasmen will follow up in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.”
During the investigation, the ministry emphasised that procedurally, the input of student data into Dapodik can only be carried out by educational units through authorised official accounts.
Kemendikdasmen also assured that it will take firm action if the investigation finds any misuse of access, improper use of personal data, or violations of Dapodik governance. The handling of such violations will be carried out in accordance with the law and in coordination with relevant ministries, agencies, and law enforcement officials.
The public can also check the status of student data through the page https://nisn.data.kemendikdasmen.go.id/. If any data discrepancies are found, the public is urged to immediately report them to the educational unit or local education office so that they can be followed up according to the applicable mechanism.
Gogot stressed that Kemendikdasmen is always committed to maintaining the integrity of Dapodik governance and ensuring that any alleged data misuse is handled professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
