Education Ministry Gets Rp61 T for 2027, Including Teacher Studio Programme

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has been allocated a budget of Rp61.1 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year. Of this total, Rp55.51 trillion is earmarked for national priority programmes, including Rp9.28 trillion for the revitalisation of educational units. This is part of a massive programme launched by the President last year and implemented through self-management by each school. There is an initial initiative budget of Rp5 trillion aimed at providing free compulsory education at the primary level, along with Rp250 billion for school supplies and Rp7.21 trillion for the initiation of national schools and integration. Digitalisation of learning is allocated Rp5.83 trillion, while improving the welfare of non-civil servant teachers receives Rp14.9 trillion, a measure taken due to the increasing number of certified teachers in both public and private sectors. The Smart Indonesia Programme (PIP) is allocated Rp13.79 trillion for 18 million students based on the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTSEN), and Rp40 billion is set aside for the construction of teacher studios. Other priority programmes include affirmative secondary education scholarships for students from frontier regions and children of Indonesian migrant workers, financial aid for high-achieving students, and scholarships for teachers to obtain bachelor’s or applied bachelor’s degrees. The ministry will also focus on teacher professional education, STEM and MIPAK competency development, deep learning, and digitalisation for teachers. Additional support includes educational programmes for Indonesian schools abroad, improving the quality of vocational education with industry-standard skills training for educators, character education, academic talent development, and the second year of academic ability tests for senior high school students, as well as accreditation and quality assurance for educational units.
