The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is continuing to drive learning transformation through a deep learning approach to prepare students for the digital era with the ability to think deeply, solve problems, collaborate, and adapt quickly. According to Vice Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Atip Latipulhayat in Jakarta on Sunday, digital transformation has altered nearly all aspects of life, from social interactions and economic activities to global governance. These changes also present various new issues, such as cybersecurity, personal data protection, transnational crime, and the utilisation of artificial intelligence, which require an understanding of law, ethics, and cross-border collaboration. “Technological development is currently progressing very rapidly. Therefore, the younger generation must have the ability to continuously learn, adapt, think critically, and understand the various impacts of digital technology development,” he said. He added that education must be able to shape students who not only master knowledge but also possess strong character, creativity, critical reasoning skills, and the ability to make decisions responsibly. This spirit, he continued, forms the foundation for strengthening Deep Learning, which the ministry is currently promoting. Through this approach, the ministry invites students to understand concepts holistically, connect learning with daily life, and develop higher-order thinking skills to be able to face increasingly complex problems. Atip also reminded that every activity in the digital space carries legal, ethical, and responsibility consequences that need to be understood from an early age. Therefore, he asserted that digital literacy must go hand in hand with character strengthening and responsibility.
