Education Ministry: Deep Learning Prepares Students for Digitalisation

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) continues to encourage learning transformation through a deep learning approach to prepare students for the digital era with abilities in deep thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and rapid adaptation.

According to the Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Atip Latipulhayat, speaking in Jakarta on Sunday, digital transformation has altered almost every aspect of life, ranging from social interaction and economic activities to global governance.

These changes also present various new issues, such as cybersecurity, personal data protection, transnational crime, and the use of artificial intelligence, which require an understanding of law, ethics, and international collaboration.

“Current technological developments are occurring very rapidly. Therefore, the younger generation must possess the ability to continuously learn, adapt, think critically, and understand the various impacts of digital technological advancements,” he stated.

He added that education must be capable of shaping students who not only master scientific knowledge but also possess strong character, creativity, critical reasoning abilities, and the skill to make decisions responsibly.

This spirit, he continued, serves as the foundation for strengthening Deep Learning, which is currently being promoted by the Ministry.

Through this approach, the Ministry invites students to understand concepts holarly, connect learning with daily life, and develop high-level thinking skills to face increasingly complex problems.

Atip also reminded that every activity in the digital space carries legal, ethical, and responsibility-based consequences that need to be understood from an early age.

Therefore, he emphasised that digital literacy must go hand in hand with character building and the strengthening of critical thinking skills.
