Education Minister Praises Prabowo's Priority to Improve Teachers' Welfare
Jakarta — The Minister for Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, has welcomed President Prabowo Subianto’s priority to improve the living conditions and welfare of teachers, announced in the speech presenting the Macro Economic Framework and Key Fiscal Policy of the Draft State Budget (KEM PPKF RAPBN) for the 2027 fiscal year.
‘Alhamdulillah. We welcome and are ready to implement the President’s policy,’ he told ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto, in his address on the Macro Economic Framework and Key Fiscal Policy of the Draft State Budget (KEM PPKF RAPBN) for the 2027 fiscal year, stated his intention to guarantee the welfare of teachers because the future of a nation is determined by the quality of education that can be provided to children.
The quality of education, the President said, is determined by teachers who are of high quality, enthusiastic, joyful, and can serve as role models for the generations to come.
‘Improving the living conditions of teachers must be our priority,’ he said.
The President explained that Indonesia’s total trade profits in the last 22 years amount to USD 436 billion, but outflows total USD 343 billion.
From this data, he said, over 22 years Indonesia’s wealth stood at USD 436 billion less USD 343 billion, leaving USD 93 billion,
“This difference, he said, is the reason teachers’ salaries are low.”
“This is why teachers’ salaries are low, the salaries of law enforcement officers are low, and the salaries of civil servants are low; this is why the budget is always insufficient, the budget is not strong, and so on. Over 34 years what has happened? What has happened is what is called under-invoicing. Under-invoicing is actually fraud or deceit, sold by entrepreneurs who do not report what is true,” Prabowo said.
