Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has confirmed that teachers with part-time Government Employee with Work Agreement (PPPK) status will automatically transition to full-time PPPK status next year.

He said the transition of teachers from part-time PPPK status to full-time status without testing will begin in January 2027.

“So part-time PPPK teachers will later be appointed as full-time PPPK teachers starting January 2027, automatically changing status without a test,” stressed Minister Mu’ti after the Handai Indonesia 2026 Appreciation event at Plaza Insan Berprestasi, Building A of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Central Jakarta, on Friday afternoon.

Furthermore, he said the government will open opportunities for teachers with full-time PPPK status as well as the general public who wish to become civil servants (PNS) through a selection process next year.

“For those who meet the requirements and are interested in becoming PNS, opportunities will be opened to take part in the PNS selection through a test. So everyone who wants to become a PNS, whether from PPPK or from outside PPPK, will go through a test,” said Mu’ti.

He added that the teacher civil servant candidate (CPNS) selection is planned to open in 2027 and not this year due to the need for thorough preparation, especially in ensuring teacher demand based on accurate data.

According to Mu’ti, the government needs to carry out all stages carefully with reference to accurate teacher demand data.

“Indeed, everything must be carried out carefully, with accurate data,” said the Minister.
