Education in West Java
Education in West Java
I refer to the news item on education published in Pikiran
Rakyat, June 14, 1999, which stated the level of education of the
people in West Java is still low. Furthermore, H. Mohamad Asta of
the Central Bureau of Statistics disclosed to reporters recently
that approximately 75 percent of the whole population of West
Java only enjoyed education at elementary school or not at all.
In my opinion, the education of this country is a sad thing,
because as far as I know this is one of the closest provinces to
the country's capital of Jakarta.
How about education in the provinces which are far away from
Jakarta? I hope the upcoming government will be willing to give
priority on education as it is the key to democratization.
