Education for defiant juveniles

JAMBI, Jambi: The provincial government plans to broaden its educational program to include more than 2,700 delinquent juveniles in the area.

Imam Achmadi, the head of the provincial office's social department, said here yesterday that juvenile delinquency is on the rise in the province.

The juveniles need special education, he said. "They committed crimes because they lack proper education in their families," he was quoted by Antara.

"We need not blame anybody, but we have to find ways to make them better citizens," he said.

Imam said his department will work with the provincial office of the department of manpower to set up vocational training and spiritual guidance programs for the troubled youngsters.(16)
