PetroChina International Jabung Ltd has reinforced its commitment to supporting the improvement of education quality in its surrounding operational areas through various community development programmes. The initiative is aimed at students and the younger generation in West Tanjung Jabung and East Tanjung Jabung regencies, Jambi. The 2026 CSR programme for education includes strengthening the capacity of educators, providing oil and gas vocational scholarships, developing youth leadership, and supplying educational facilities for schools. One of the flagship programmes is Sahabat (Sarana Hadapi Belajar Aktif dan Berprestasi), which focuses on enhancing digital technology-based leadership capacity for aspiring head teachers. A total of 60 participants from West Tanjung Jabung and East Tanjung Jabung took part in the programme through collaboration with Jambi University and the Teacher and Education Personnel Centre (BGTK) of Jambi Province. In addition, PetroChina is offering opportunities for local sons and daughters to join the PEM Akamigas Palembang Scholarship Programme for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Diploma III vocational programme covers majors in Oil and Gas Laboratory Analysis Techniques, Oil and Gas Processing Techniques, and Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Techniques. This programme serves as a bridge for local talent to obtain high-quality education relevant to the job market needs. In developing youth capacity, PetroChina, together with SKK Migas and the Bina Antarbudaya Foundation, is also supporting the Education & Workshop Programme for the AFS Global Future Leader Network. Through the programme, participants receive training in digital skills, design thinking, and an understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to prepare young leaders with global competitiveness. Selected students will take part in this programme. In the area of educational facilities, PetroChina distributed 1,000 sets of student desks and chairs, with 500 sets allocated to West Tanjung Jabung and 500 sets to East Tanjung Jabung. The distribution of these physical facilities is expected to improve student comfort in absorbing knowledge at school. Furthermore, in East Tanjung Jabung, PetroChina is also developing the PUSTAKA BERKAH programme, which includes the development of Sanggar Bekisah and an Elderly School through collaboration with the State Islamic University Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. This initiative underscores the company’s strategy in promoting community-based education, which is expected to strengthen the community learning ecosystem in the region.
