Education Development Programme Expands Scholarship Access and School Facilities in Jambi
PetroChina International Jabung Ltd has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the improvement of education quality in the areas surrounding its operations through various community development programmes. This time, the programme is dedicated to students and the younger generation in the Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur Regencies, Jambi.
The 2026 educational Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme consists of strengthening the capacity of teaching staff, providing oil and gas vocational scholarships, developing youth leadership, and providing educational facilities for schools.
One of the flagship programmes being implemented is ‘Sahabat’ (Facilities for Active and High-Achieving Learning), which focuses on enhancing digital technology-based leadership capacity for prospective school principals. A total of 60 participants from Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur are participating in this programme through a collaboration with Jambi University and the Jambi Province Teacher and Education Personnel Centre (BGTK).
Furthermore, PetroChina is also providing opportunities for local youths to participate in the PEM Akamigas Palembang Scholarship Programme for the 2026/2027 academic year. This Diploma III vocational programme covers majors in Oil and Gas Laboratory Analysis Engineering, Oil and Gas Processing Engineering, and Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Engineering.
This programme serves as a bridge for local talent to obtain high-quality education relevant to labour market needs. In developing the capacity of the younger generation, PetroChina, alongside SKK Migas and the Bina Antarbudaya Foundation, also supports the implementation of the Education & Workshop Programme for the AFS Global Future Leader Network. Through this programme, participants receive training in digital skills, design thinking, and an understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to prepare young leaders with global competitiveness. Selected students will also participate in this programme.
In the field of educational facilities, PetroChina has distributed 1,000 sets of student desks and chairs, with 500 sets each allocated to Tanjung Jabung Barat and Tanjung Jabung Timur. The distribution of these physical facilities is expected to improve student comfort in learning at school.
Additionally, in Tanjung Jabung Timur, PetroChina is developing the ‘PUSTAKA BERKAH’ programme, which includes the development of Sanggar Bekisah and the Senior School through collaboration with the Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin State Islamic University Jambi. This initiative underscores the company’s strategy to promote community-based education, which is expected to strengthen the local community’s learning ecosystem.
