Education Department Official Reveals Chromebook Price in Tangsel Reaches Rp7.65 Million Per Unit

Jakarta — An official in charge of development at the Tangerang Selatan City Education Office said that the price of a Chromebook-based laptop in the 2021-2022 procurement was Rp7.65 million per unit. “In the e-catalog procurement, the price of Tangsel’s Chromebook laptop is Rp7,650,000 per unit, is that correct, Mr Didin?” asked Public Prosecutor Roy Riady during a session at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday, 6 March 2026. This was stated by Didin when he was called as a witness in the continuation of the trial of an alleged corruption case over the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops for three defendants. “Correct, Sir,” replied Didin. “Referring to the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Regulation Number 3 of 2022, the data is also like this. Mr Didin, can the PPK in that juknis choose a product other than a Chromebook laptop?” asked Prosecutor Roy. Didin said he could not choose another product because the Chromebook specifications were already listed in the procurement technical manual (Juknis). In addition to Didin, the Prosecutor also summoned two Officials Responsible for Technical Activities (PPTK) for the procurement using the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) of Banten Province for 2021-2022, namely Asep Muzakir and Lukman. They were asked questions that were more or less the same. First, about the Chromebook price. Asep and Lukman said they could not choose other products because they had to follow the ministry’s juknis. “If you go beyond that, it would violate the ministerial juknis already set by the ministry, Sir,” Lukman explained. In this case, former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim, along with three other defendants, is said to have caused a state financial loss of Rp2.1 trillion. Nadiem is accused of enriching himself by Rp809 billion.
