Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Shariah) launched PRUTahapan Cemerlang, a traditional dual-benefit Shariah life insurance policy designed to help families prepare for education funds and long-term financial planning amid rising national education costs. The product offers a Stage Fund Benefit of up to 160 percent of the target fund, with contributions starting at Rp200 thousand per month. Prudential Shariah said the product is intended to support planning for children’s education, retirement, and other financial needs. The launch of PRUTahapan Cemerlang is also a response to the trend of rising education costs in Indonesia. According to data from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), the average cost of primary education rose by 90 percent from Rp2.4 million in 2018 to Rp4.56 million in 2024. Meanwhile, higher education costs rose 31.38 percent to Rp19.01 million per academic year in 2024. Chief Executive Iskandar Ezzahuddin of Prudential Shariah said the rise in education costs that outpaces inflation requires families to have more mature long-term financial planning. ‘Every parent certainly wants the best education for their child. However, education costs continue to rise, so fund readiness becomes very important. PRUTahapan Cemerlang is here to help ensure education funds are available at every level of education,’ Iskandar said in a statement on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. He added that the product is also designed to provide financial protection in the event of risks to the breadwinner so that a child’s education plan can continue.
