Educating Youth Through the Film 'Senja di Pelangi'

The ‘Aku Sahabatmu’ movement, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health’s Jakarta III Polytechnic (Poltekkes Kemenkes), has officially launched the educational film ‘Senja di Pelangi’ at CGV FX Sudirman, Jakarta. The film addresses various issues commonly faced by teenagers, including online gender-based violence (KBGO), mental health, toxic relationships, body shaming, and the courage to recover and seek help. Through an emotional approach that is close to the realities of young people, the film is expected to serve as an educational tool while encouraging the creation of safe spaces for Indonesian youth. The cast includes Hetty Astri, founder of the ‘Aku Sahabatmu’ movement, alongside Arief Luqman Caka, Faiza Khanza, and Jehanara. The launch event was attended by government officials, professional organisations, international development partners, academics, filmmakers, media, and students, reflecting cross-sector collaboration to support mental health improvement and healthy relationships among the younger generation. In her speech, Deputy Minister of Transmigration Boki Ratu Nita Budhi Susanti expressed appreciation for the film, describing it as an effective educational medium to raise public awareness, particularly among teenagers, about the importance of maintaining mental health. She expressed hope that the film would be distributed to schools across Indonesia to benefit more young people. Producer and founder Hetty Astri emphasised that ‘Senja di Pelangi’ was not made for commercial purposes but as a form of community service and education. She stated that schools wishing to screen the film can contact the Jakarta III Polytechnic for access.
