Edith TKO's Samantha to Claim WBA Women's Super Lightweight Title

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Argentine veteran boxer Edith Soleda Matthysse scored a technical knockout (TKO) over Samantha Worthington to seize the World Boxing Association (WBA) women’s super lightweight (63.5 kg) world championship title at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, United States.

“Edith is once again at the pinnacle of the world stage, adding the WBA 140-pound title to her record, which previously included a featherweight title,” the WBA reported on its official website, monitored in Jakarta, Wednesday.

At 45 years old, Edith Soledad Matthysse displayed a performance that reflected the maturity of an experienced fighter.

She demonstrated intelligence in reading situations in the ring, precise timing, and the mental composure that characterizes a world-class veteran boxer. These factors were the main foundation of her dominance throughout the match.

From the opening bell, Edith immediately neutralized Samantha’s movements with a disciplined and measured approach. She consistently controlled the distance, pressed her opponent without rushing, and dictated the tempo, making it difficult for the challenger from Michigan to develop her own boxing style.
