Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Eddy Soeparno, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction, met Temasek’s Head of International Policy and Governance, Ashok Mirpuri, in Singapore yesterday. The meeting was held ahead of the opening of Ecosperity Week 2026 in Singapore, now in its eleventh year and attended by policymakers from the private sector and global governments. In the meeting, Eddy outlined Indonesia’s energy policy, including the government’s acceleration of the energy transition. “The solar, wind, hydro and geothermal energy sectors are among the Renewable Energy (EBT) sectors that the government will prioritise going forward as part of Indonesia’s commitment to building the economy. This development will continue to prioritise sustainability, particularly decarbonisation,” Eddy said, as quoted in a press release on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Ashok Mirpuri, who is also a former Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia, explained several investment activities in the renewable energy sector carried out by Temasek’s various units, such as Sembawang Corp and Keppel. “Temasek opens its doors wide to participate in the development of EBT projects in Indonesia, including the Waste-to-Energy Power Plant that is being built massively by the government,” he said. Later the same day Eddy also met Temasek CEO Dhilan Pillay Sandrasegara at a dinner hosted for the opening of Ecosperity Week. The meeting discussed important changes related to climate change issues, including an explanation of several regulations underpinning climate-control programmes in Indonesia, such as Presidential Regulation 110/2025 on the Carbon Economic Value, which is expected to accelerate the carbon trading process including emission reductions. “We also explained that, as a member of the DPR, we continue to push for the discussion of the Climate Change Management Bill to provide legal protection to strengthen Indonesia’s efforts to address the climate crisis, which has led to rising temperatures, extreme weather, natural disasters and acute ecological degradation,” said the UI PhD in Political Science. Dhilan explained Temasek’s commitment to investing in a prudent, responsible and sustainable manner, particularly respecting sustainability aspects. He also expressed a desire to increase investment cooperation in Indonesia’s industrial sector, noting that several previous investments have performed well by leveraging Indonesia’s HR expertise.
