Economy roundup: MBG oversight team to automotive industry relocation

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has formed a special team to oversee the use of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme budget across all regions. The oversight will involve the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) and the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) spread across all districts and cities.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) temporarily halted certain coal export shipments to secure the availability of coal with the required calorific value for primary energy needs of PT PLN (state electricity company) power plants. “This step was taken as part of the ESDM Ministry’s supervisory function as regulator,” said ESDM Ministry Spokesperson Dwi Anggia.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is preparing further budget efficiency measures for its programme. The efficiency plan was conveyed directly by BGN Head Nanik S Deyang during a meeting at the Ministry of Finance office on Thursday (25/6). Although the amount of budget to be saved has not been disclosed, Purbaya noted the figure is quite significant.

The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Ministry of Finance collected Rp6.81 trillion in tax revenue from the digital economy sector as of 31 May 2026. DJP Director of Counselling, Services and Public Relations Inge Diana Rismawanti stated that Value Added Tax (VAT) on Trade Through Electronic Systems (PMSE) remains the most dominant contributor.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that no automotive component industry companies are relocating from Indonesia to Vietnam. Prasetyo, who also chairs the Task Force for Mitigation of Layoffs, said the relocation plans of two companies operating in East Java have been temporarily postponed.
