Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta noted that economy-class trains became the main choice of the public during the Lebaran transport period in 2026, with ticket sales reaching 378,324 tickets, while executive class tickets amounted to 211,566.

Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta, said that economy trains are the backbone of mobility for the public, especially for those travelling long distances at an economical cost.

‘Economy trains still remain the people’s first choice because they offer affordable fares with safety and travel comfort levels that we continue to maintain,’ he said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Franoto also explained that for the subsidised economy trains (Public Service Obligation/ PSO), the occupancy rate reached 93 percent, with 74,055 tickets sold.

Some PSO economy trains that are favourites and depart from Pasar Senen Station include KA Bengawan with fares around Rp74,000, KA Airlangga with fares around Rp104,000, KA Serayu with fares around Rp67,000, and KA Cikuray with fares Rp45,000.

Up to now there are still about 7,000 seats available for the departure period 23 March to 1 April 2026.

Meanwhile, for commercial economy trains, tickets have been booked with an occupancy rate of around 67 percent of total capacity. This figure is expected to rise further with a government stimulus programme offering up to 30 percent discount for commercial economy trains valid for the departure period 14 March to 29 March 2026.

During the period 14 March to 29 March 2026, around 85,726 seats remain available.
