Senior economist Dradjad Hari Wibowo stated that the quality of governance and communication are key to the success of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).

“This is a recent announcement, so it is the responsibility of Mr Rosan (CEO of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani) and the Danantara team to communicate the concept to the public as effectively as possible,” Dradjad said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

According to him, the success of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia is largely determined by the quality of government communication and the institution’s initial performance. Resistance to DSI’s establishment arises because the new agency is addressing longstanding issues such as under-invoicing and transfer pricing, which have long been considered detrimental to the nation.

He noted that resistance and concerns regarding DSI’s presence are understandable. Dradjad added that some opposing parties likely consist of individuals previously involved in under-invoicing and transfer pricing practices.

Therefore, he said, DSI’s success will heavily depend on the government’s communication quality and the agency’s early performance.

“If communication is strong and initial performance shows positive results, I believe concerns will gradually diminish,” he said.

Beyond communication, he also highlighted governance and transparency as crucial factors for building public trust. Both aspects need to be actively and consistently communicated to all stakeholders. This will enable DSI to foster a conducive ecosystem and boost market confidence.

“Weak communication could cause a well-intentioned idea to be perceived as deviating from its original purpose. Therefore, communication plays a very critical role,” he added.
