Economic Pressure Worsens in Q2-2026, Purbaya Reveals Indonesia's Current Condition
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) has observed increasing global economic pressures in the second quarter of 2026. He noted that these pressures stem from ongoing geopolitical conflicts, which have spilled over into the economic sphere through rising energy prices and volatility in exchange rates and capital flows. “Entering the second quarter, external pressures have increased again in line with geopolitical escalation, rising energy prices, and turbulence in global financial markets, affecting exchange rates and capital flows,” Purbaya said during a KSSK press conference in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). Despite the heightened global economic pressures, Purbaya assured that domestic economic activity remains well-maintained due to strengthening resilience. “The domestic economy continues to show resilience, reflected in solid economic growth and a maintained financial sector stability,” Purbaya stated. He emphasised that external risks to macroeconomic stability and the financial system must continue to be closely monitored to sustain the momentum of high economic growth.
