Economic Census 2026: Building Indonesia with Reliable Information
Various decisions are taken by the government to develop the Indonesian economy, from building infrastructure and expanding market access to encouraging investment, creating jobs, and developing MSMEs. To ensure that every policy truly addresses needs on the ground, the government requires information that is accurate, complete, and trustworthy.
The 2026 Economic Census is one way to obtain such information. Through the economic census, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) collects data from business actors and households to provide a complete picture of the national economic condition.
Good decisions always begin with good understanding. Each region has different potential, challenges, and economic structures. Likewise, every business and household has different scales, capacities, and needs. The Economic Census helps present information that describes these conditions so that policies can be formulated based on actual circumstances, not mere estimates.
Indonesia is too large to be built on assumptions. Reliable information also does not emerge on its own. Its quality is largely determined by the answers provided by the public and business actors. Therefore, respondent participation in providing correct answers is an important part of producing accurate data as a navigation tool for development.
Receiving Economic Census officers and providing answers according to actual conditions is a real contribution to building Indonesia. Every piece of information provided will be processed into official statistics that describe the economic condition in aggregate. BPS guarantees the confidentiality of all respondent answers as mandated by law, and all individual data is protected.
