Ecohome Responds to ITE and Copyright Infringement Report from KaisarTV
Ecohome Indonesia has responded to a police report filed by KaisarTV concerning alleged violations of the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law and copyright infringement related to their podcast content. The response was uploaded to the official Ecohome Indonesia Instagram account on Tuesday (9/6/2026), as observed by journalists. The statement was delivered by Agust Doloksaribu, legal counsel for Ecohome International Indonesia. He stated that Ecohome had responded to a formal notice from KaisarTV on 4 June 2026. Agust noted several points in the reply to KaisarTV, including a request to rationalise the compensation demand of IDR 1,080,000,000. “The essence of our response, the full contents of which can be found in the attachment for absolute clarity, essentially invites KaisarTV to rationalise its losses through logical questions to be presented first before arriving at the total compensation demand of IDR 1,080,000,000,” Agust said. He stated that Ecohome could not accommodate KaisarTV’s invitation to meet in person. Agust mentioned that his party hopes for a written reply before any meeting occurs. “We are trying to reassure KaisarTV by stating that we will totally and seriously transform KaisarTV’s calculations as long as there are details, especially as it is a provision that can no longer be debated,” he said. According to him, only 4 seconds of KaisarTV’s content was used out of a total 30 seconds of his client’s content. He noted that there had been no explanation from KaisarTV regarding the company’s losses or Ecohome’s profits after the video was published. “Our message has been very simple from the start: let us rationalise everything,” he wrote. The report from KaisarTV stems from an alleged criminal act involving information and electronic transactions and copyright infringement by Ecohome Indonesia, filed with the Metro Jaya Regional Police. The report concerns the alleged unauthorised use of KaisarTV content clips for Ecohome Indonesia’s commercial interests. The report was received and registered under Receipt Letter Number STTLP/B/4105/VI/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA on 8 June 2026. Editor-in-Chief of KaisarTV, Abdul Gafur, stated that the report was made after discovering clips from KaisarTV’s podcast were used without permission by Ecohome Indonesia on Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and YouTube Shorts. In the uploaded content, Ecohome Indonesia allegedly took and utilised snippets of KaisarTV’s podcast production as part of their promotional and marketing materials. Gafur assessed that such actions could potentially harm a media company that has invested in the content production process, from research and idea development to production and distribution to the public. “KaisarTV was built with hard work, team dedication, time, effort, substantial costs and resources, as well as the trust of millions of young Indonesian viewers. Our content is not an asset that can be taken freely for the commercial interests of other parties without permission. Therefore, the unauthorised use of content for commercial purposes is a serious matter that cannot be taken lightly,” Gafur stated in a written release on Tuesday (9/6).
