On the occasion of Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah, several regions in Indonesia have begun implementing eco-friendly approaches for distributing sacrificial meat on Wednesday (27 May 2026).

In the Ciracas residential area, committees package the meat in bamboo baskets before distributing it to the dhuafa. This step is part of efforts to reduce single-use plastic, which is difficult to decompose and poses environmental pollution risks.

The DKI Jakarta Environment Agency (DLH) has encouraged the public to adopt the EcoQurban concept—a green sacrifice movement using natural materials like bamboo and banana leaves for meat packaging.

In other areas, such as Kediri City, residents use bamboo baskets lined with jati leaves to wrap sacrificial meat at Al-Khalid Mosque. This initiative supports government efforts to reduce plastic waste.

Meanwhile, in Salakaso Village, Bandung Regency, the sacrifice committee uses bamboo ropes as an alternative for tying meat during distribution.

These innovations reflect growing public awareness in preserving the environment, as the act of Qurban carries not only spiritual but also social and ecological significance.
