The “Eco Echo Trail Run 2026” trail running event will be held in Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday (21/6). Eco Echo Trail Run is a conservation campaign-based trail run event aimed at increasing public awareness of preserving the Sumatran Elephant habitat and the importance of harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife. Through a sports approach and community collaboration, Eco Echo Trail Run invites the public to make every step a support for elephant conservation in Sumatra. The Eco Echo Trail Run 2026 is a charity trail run event, a collaboration between WWF-Indonesia and SalingJaga (Kitabisa), carrying the theme “Every Step Echoes Conservation”. These two institutions aim to invite the public to participate in cross-country sports while absorbing lessons on the importance of maintaining ecosystem balance and the future of wildlife in our country. They want the public to be able to contribute and actively participate in maintaining ecosystem balance through protecting Sumatran elephants and restoring the Peusangan Landscape in Aceh. “Every step taken by participants is not just a journey to the finish line, but also a real contribution to voicing the importance of preserving the Sumatran Elephant habitat,” said Rusyda Deli, Director of People and Growth. Through this activity, WWF-Indonesia and SalingJaga invite the public to contribute to efforts to protect Sumatran elephants and support the restoration of the Peusangan Landscape in Aceh, Sumatra. The ever-increasing human population certainly requires a larger living space. However, we must maintain the ecosystem balance so that civilisation can continue to pulse into the future. Constantly maintaining this ecosystem balance is the key message of the Eco Echo Trail Run 2026. The existence of the Peusangan area also has a strategic role in maintaining the ecosystem balance that benefits the surrounding community. Through various conservation efforts and multi-party collaborations, the protection of the Sumatran Elephant habitat continues to be strengthened to encourage the creation of harmony between humans and wildlife. This initiative not only supports elephant conservation but also contributes to the sustainability of natural resources and the welfare of communities living alongside nature. Ecosystem balance can be seen when the last home of the Sumatran Elephant is maintained, in line with the welfare of the surrounding community. By combining an active lifestyle and environmental issues, this activity is expected to build broader public engagement, especially among the younger generation and sports communities. Besides being a campaign platform, every participation in the Eco Echo Trail Run will contribute to the Sumatran Elephant conservation programme and efforts to mitigate human-wildlife conflict. This activity is proof that efforts to maintain ecosystem balance can be carried out inclusively and collaboratively, involving various parties ranging from runner communities, mass media, environmental organisations, corporate partners, to the general public. It is hoped that this activity can create a collective movement that connects sports, a healthy lifestyle, and environmental awareness into one joint step for a better future for the earth. The registration period for this running event runs from March to this month, with prices starting from IDR 270,000 to enter the 5-kilometre (5K) and 10-kilometre (10K) running categories.
