EC holds seminar on exporting to EU

JAKARTA: The Delegation of the European Commission to Indonesia organized a seminar on "Exporting to the European Union" at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Jakarta as part of Europe Month 2005.

The one-day seminar, which was attended by mainly Indonesian exporters, government officials and academicians, discussed the prospects for Indonesian exports to the European Union (EU), trade ties, the EU's General System of Preferences (GSP) and the Helpdesk.

"Many exporters in Indonesia do not understand the EU's rules like GSP. It's useful," Erwin Elias from the Indonesia Small Business Exporters Consortium, one of the participants, told The Jakarta Post on the sidelines of the seminar.

The EC Delegation's head of trade section Raffaele Quarto and his colleagues Hermine Donceel and project manager Cecile Leroy were the main speakers at the seminar. -- JP
