JAKARTA, CNBC Indonesia – Indonesian citizens now have various payment options, from cash to digital. Physical currency remains popular for purchasing from micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), as emergency funds, or when visiting rural areas. Therefore, banks maintain cash withdrawal services for customers, including PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI).

BRI continues to innovate in providing cash withdrawal services through technology and expanded access. Dwi Pranata (30), a BRI customer since 2021 and a private sector employee in Jakarta, uses digital payments daily but still withdraws cash. He uses BRImo, a financial super app for various transactions anytime, anywhere, including online onboarding, payments, purchases, investments, insurance, and financial tracking. BRImo also supports international transfers to over 160 countries and QR payments abroad.

Dwi uses BRImo for transactions like cash withdrawals, e-wallet top-ups, QRIS payments, and BPJS Kesehatan fees. He no longer uses his ATM card, preferring BRImo for its reliability and convenience. “BRImo is easier; ATM cards sometimes don’t respond. With BRImo, it’s just a matter of opening the app,” he told CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (28 May 2026).

To withdraw cash via BRImo at an ATM:

  • Open the BRImo app.

  • Select Cash Withdrawal.

  • Choose the funding account.

  • Enter the withdrawal amount and click Continue.

  • The system generates a transaction code.

  • Visit the nearest BRI ATM.

  • Press the bottom-left button on the ATM.

  • Select Cash Withdrawal.

  • Enter the registered mobile number.

  • Choose the available amount from the app.

  • Transaction completes and cash is dispensed.

Cash withdrawals can also be done via other channels like mini markets and BRILink agents across Indonesia. BRI’s cash withdrawal service is accessible even at convenience stores, requiring only a mobile phone.

BRImo offers cash withdrawal at all BRILink agents nationwide. Users can withdraw between Rp50,000 and Rp5,000,000 per transaction with a manageable admin fee of Rp3,000. Steps include:

  • Open BRImo.

  • Select Deposit/Withdrawal.

  • Choose BRILink agent location.

  • Enter the desired withdrawal amount, ensuring sufficient balance.

  • Complete the transaction and pay the admin fee.

  • Enter BRImo PIN.

  • Receive a transaction code and barcode to present to the agent for cash.

BRI President Director Hery Gunardi highlighted BRILink’s strategic role as a financial access agent, especially for remote areas. “BRILink has 1.2 million outlets across Indonesia, reaching villages where banks don’t exist. This is agent banking, which we’ve implemented nationwide,” he said at the Jogja Financial Festival 2026 in Bantul on Friday (29 May 2026).

BRILink serves as a financial oasis for the unbanked. The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) recorded 15.3 million unbanked Indonesians aged 15-69 in 2025, down from 23.5 million the previous year but still significant.

BRILink operates as a BRI agent service, enabling real-time banking transactions via mini ATM EDC devices with shared cost concepts. Its presence in remote 3T regions (most disadvantaged, border, and outermost areas) supports Indonesia’s financial inclusion, promoting equitable access to banking services.

Other BRILink services include transfers to BRI or other banks, electricity and water bill payments, mobile top-ups, zakat payments, mini ATM services, and more.
