Weifang Port, located in Bohai Bay Port Authority in Shandong Province in eastern China, successfully dispatched 75 construction vehicles and various equipment from Wharf No. 8 on Saturday, 28 February, to Cambodia via a regular service vessel on the new bulk cargo route between Weifang and Cambodia. This marks the official opening of a supply route to Cambodia under the “Voyage to Southeast Asia in the New Era” (Xia Nan Yang) project launched by Bohai Bay Port Authority.

Port workers carefully arranged the ship’s layout to transport giant vehicles alongside other materials in an integrated manner to maximise cargo shipping efficiency to Cambodia.

To meet strong demand from Southeast Asian markets for Chinese construction vehicles and heavy equipment, the port has adopted a “multi-layer stacking transportation” approach, placing many vehicles in several stereometric layers within the limited cargo hold space.

Weifang Border Inspection Post has opened a dedicated lane for this cargo equipped with a mobile application for inspection submissions and early registration, significantly reducing waiting times and transportation costs for businesses.

“We have previously contacted shipping agents and businesses and coordinated with customs authorities and maritime management agencies. A one-stop customs window has also been opened directly at the port, providing personalised services and ensuring smooth customs procedures,” said Zhen Yuan, a staff member at the inspection post.

Previously, Weifang Port area has opened and continuously improved several bulk cargo, heavy equipment, and construction vehicle routes serving Vietnam and Indonesia. Thanks to reliable operations and services, the port has become one of the main shipping hubs for products manufactured in Shandong destined for ASEAN markets.
