Easter Service at Senayan

JAKARTA (JP): An American evangelist is to visit Indonesia as part of an Asian tour and preach on "Good News" at an Easter Service here, event organizers said Saturday.

Reverend Morris Cerullo from San Diego will deliver his sermon and pray for believers in the free-of-charge service on April 30 at 6 p.m., at the Senayan Sport Stadium, Central Jakarta.

He is also scheduled teach in a Bible study the following day, along with local minister M.D. Wakkary.

The class will start at 8:30 a.m. on May 1. People interested in the bible study can register at Christian bookstores in town. The cost is Rp 5,000 per person.

John Hameda, one of the organizers, said that the evangelist had an empathy toward the Asian people suffering the monetary crisis.

"He will pray for anyone in need of divine blessing. Many times during his travels around the world, God inspired him to perform miracles," said John.

John said that police have agreed to secure the stadium for the two-day event, that would cost an estimate Rp 100 million.

The service, titled God's anointment in the final days, is organized by the Jakarta chapter of the Churches Conference Board. (ivy)
