Easter Peace Torch for 2026 Sent to Indonesia-Australia Zero Point
The peace torch lit by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the 2026 Easter Parade Festival in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), will be carried to the Indonesia-Australia Zero Point in Rote Ndao Regency. Following the Easter parade procession in Kupang City, the torch is being prepared for dispatch to the border area as a symbol of a peace message from NTT to Indonesia and the world. Chairman of the 2026 Easter Parade Committee, Simson Polin, stated that the torch will be taken to the Indonesia-Australia Zero Point as a symbol of a peace message from NTT to Indonesia and the world. “This torch serves as a symbol of peace also for the war in the Middle East. We want this conflict and warfare to end. No matter what, there will always be sacrifices, whether in lives or property,” said Simson on Wednesday (8/4/2026). He added that this peace message is a tangible form from NTT to Indonesia and the world. “This peace message is hoped to bring positive impacts for Indonesia and the world, as well as to end conflicts and wars in various parts of the world,” he said. Simson also appreciated the presence of Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the celebration held in Kupang City. During the festival, the peace torch was lit by Gibran as a symbol of peace. “This torch will be taken to Rote on 9 April 2026 and handed over to the local government on 10 April 2026,” he continued. Previously, the peace torch was lit by Gibran Rakabuming Raka when opening the 2026 Easter Parade Festival procession in Kupang, NTT. The torch becomes a symbol of peace amid the conflicts currently occurring in various parts of the world.
