PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 5 Purwokerto, Central Java, is adding two train services to anticipate the increased number of passengers during the long holiday for Good Friday and Easter, taking place from 2 to 5 April 2026. The two additional trains being operated are KA (7027A) Kutojaya Utara on the Kutoarjo–Pasar Senen route with executive and economy class services departing at 4:00 PM WIB, and KA (7029A) Kutojaya Selatan Tambahan on the Kutoarjo–Kiaracondong route with modified new generation economy class departing at 6:00 PM WIB. The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto, M. As’ad Habibuddin, stated that this addition of services is expected to provide convenience for the public wishing to travel to various destination cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, and other areas along the route. “During the long weekend period, we are providing a total of 11,726 seats per day, consisting of 10,800 regular seats and 926 additional seats,” he said on Thursday (2/4). According to him, the long holiday momentum has the potential to increase public mobility, both for tourism purposes and family visits. Therefore, the addition of services is carried out to accommodate the high demand while providing more schedule options to customers. KAI also urges the public to plan their trips early and book tickets through the Access by KAI application, the official KAI website, or other sales channels. Passengers are advised to arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure and can utilise the face recognition-based boarding facility available at Purwokerto and Kutoarjo Stations. “We are committed to delivering safe, comfortable, and on-time transportation services, so that the public can enjoy their Easter holiday trips more peacefully,” he concluded. KAI also informs that discounted tickets with a 30 percent fare reduction are still available for departures from 20 to 29 March 2026. Train ticket sales during the Lebaran transport period also show an increasing trend. As of Sunday afternoon (15/3) or H-6 Lebaran, the tickets sold have reached 214,624. In that programme, KAI offers two types of promotions: the Mudik Promo with a 30 percent discount and Flash Sale with special ticket fares.
