Easter Long Weekend: Additional Trains from Kutoarjo Station
PURWOREJO, KOMPAS.com – To anticipate a surge in passengers during the long holiday for Good Friday and Easter, PT Kereta Api Indonesia is adding trains from Kutoarjo Station, Purworejo Regency, Central Java.
To anticipate the overwhelming number of train service users, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Region 5 Purwokerto is adding two extra train journeys departing directly from that station.
This addition applies during the long weekend period running from Thursday (2/4/2026) to Sunday (5/4/2026).
For the Kutojaya Utara train, executive and economy classes are available with a departure schedule at 4:00 PM WIB.
Meanwhile, the additional Kutojaya Selatan train departs at 6:00 PM WIB with modified new generation economy class services that are increasingly popular among the public.
The Public Relations Manager of KAI Operational Region 5 Purwokerto, M. As’ad Habibuddin, stated that Kutoarjo Station is one of the strategic points in accommodating the high mobility of the community in the southern Central Java region.
“The presence of these additional trains is expected to provide convenience for the public, especially those departing from Kutoarjo to Jakarta, Bandung, or other cities along the route,” he said in an official statement on Thursday (2/4/2026).
During that period, KAI Operational Region 5 Purwokerto is preparing a total of 11,726 seats each day.
This number consists of 10,800 regular seats and an additional 926 seats from extra train journeys focused on popular routes, including departures from Kutoarjo Station.
This capacity addition is also a strategic step to alleviate passenger density while providing more travel schedule options.
Thus, it is hoped that there will be no excessive build-up at the station, especially during peak departure hours.
“We are committed to continuing to provide safe, comfortable, and on-time services, even with an increase in passenger volume,” As’ad continued.
In addition, KAI also urges prospective passengers to plan their trips early and book tickets immediately through the Access by KAI app, the official KAI website, or other sales channels.
Passengers are also advised to arrive at the station earlier, at least 30 minutes before departure, to avoid delays.
With the increased activity at Kutoarjo Station during this long holiday, the public is expected to optimally utilise these additional services.
“KAI ensures that all operations run smoothly so that the holiday moment remains enjoyable without transportation obstacles,” he concluded.
