Jakarta (ANTARA) - The management of Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta is urging the public to prioritise safety while travelling during the 2026 Easter holiday. “We hope passengers are in good health, and board and alight at the terminal. Many arrive in the early hours, which is risky if they get off on the roadside,” said Kampung Rambutan Terminal Head Revi Zulkarnain at the terminal on Thursday. This appeal comes as the number of passengers at the terminal increases during the long Easter holiday period from 2-6 April 2026. Revi stressed the importance of prospective passengers ensuring their health condition before departure and using official terminal facilities when boarding and alighting buses. According to him, the terminal has prepared various facilities, including waiting rooms and other support amenities, to support passenger comfort and security, especially for those arriving at vulnerable times like the early morning. “Because arrivals are in the early hours, it’s risky if they alight outside the terminal or on the roadside. We have also prepared waiting rooms and infrastructure facilities at the terminal,” Revi explained. Regarding bus fares, he said that economy bus fares have been set by the government and cannot be raised unilaterally. Meanwhile, for non-economy buses, fares are determined by bus companies but must still follow the established upper and lower limits. “To date, we have not received reports of any ticket price increases, whether for routes to West Java, Central Java, East Java, or Sumatra,” Revi stated. Given this situation, the public is expected not to worry about fare surges during the Easter holiday period. However, passengers are still asked to buy tickets through official agents to avoid scalping practices. Revi predicts that the increase in passenger numbers will continue until the end of the weekend, in line with the long holiday momentum utilised by the public to travel with family. Revi affirmed that they will continue to monitor transport operations and fares to ensure safety, comfort, and price certainty for all passengers.
